All of us live in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Sometimes people just call our country “the UK” or “Britain”. Some of us were born here, and others were born in a different country and live here now. |
We all live here together. In school, we have our LIGHT Values – a list of the things we think are important in our school. British Values are a list of things that are important for all people in Britain. These are not just for our school. |
Democracy is having your say and getting to effect change by voting. Every child has the right to influence decisions that affect them, as do all citizens in the UK. |
Everywhere has rules - our school, at home, and the country has rules too. We all follow rules and laws, as they are there to keep everyone safe and happy. Our rules are fair. |
Everyone is free to express themselves and make choices. Everyone is free to hold any religious faith or none. Everyone is free to love whomever they wish. |
Accepting and respecting the fact that other people have different faiths and beliefs to us. We respect everyone, whether they are similar or different to us. We are stronger due to our diversity. |
Here we all are. In the UK.
Together.
British Values help us all to live together happily. Let’s see them in our school.
