The Curriculum at Holy Trinity has been designed to ensure that we ‘light the way to a brighter future’ for every child. It belongs to us – the children, staff, governors and parents of our school. Our curriculum not only focuses on appropriate subject specific knowledge, skills and understanding as set out in the National Curriculum but is tailored to meet the needs of the children that attend our school. It is underpinned by our LIGHT values which are carried in the hearts of all who teach and learn at Holy Trinity.
When designing our curriculum, the heritage, faith and aspirations of our community of pupils was carefully considered but also our curriculum provision is ever growing as we react to the changing needs of our children and the modern world in which they live.
As a research-based school, our curriculum is carefully sequenced to ensure that effective, pedagogical teaching runs through the core of what we offer our pupils. This connected curriculum offers pupils a chance to see and understand how their education in specific subjects fits into the context of the wider world. We make regular links across curriculum subjects.
Vocabulary is an important aspect of our teaching and learning. The pupils at Holy Trinity are immersed into a language rich curriculum, not only in English but across all subjects.
The way in which our pupils learn is carefully considered though planning of our topics - from the carefully considered progression to the final retention of knowledge. We follow a teach and review cycle where pupils can revisit their learning in order to retain and build upon important knowledge. Our subject specific intent statement explores the further detail in which our curriculum meets the needs of our pupils.
